In the top of the sixth, Kaylee Barrett launched a solo shot to left field, her third of the season, to put Indiana State up 5-1. Cassi Newbanks entered in relief and got a groundout to escape the jam. Evansville would then load the bases and chase Sackett with two outs. A leadoff solo shot to right center put the Purple Aces on the scoreboard, making it a 4-1 game. Sackett would pick up another strikeout along the way to another scoreless frame in the bottom half.Īfter sitting down the Sycamores in order to start the fourth, Evansville would make things interesting in the bottom of the inning. Danielle Henning moved Chipps and Patton to second and third with a sacrifice bunt. The Sycamores got their offense rolling in the third, starting off the inning with singles from Abi Chipps and Olivia Patton. Lauren Sackett would pick up her third strikeout in a scoreless bottom of the second. In the top of the second, TeAnn Bringle doubled to right center, her 10 th double of the year, to highlight the Sycamore offense in the frame. The inning would end on a diving stop by Olivia Patton in center field. In the bottom of the first, Lauren Sackett picked up two strikeouts while navigating around bases-load jam. She would be stranded on second after a strikeout and a pair of flyouts. Olivia Patton led off the game with an infield single and then promptly stole second base for her team-leading eighth steal of the season. Indiana State now has a 55-50 lead in the all-time series against Evansville. The Purple Aces (21-26, 7-14 MVC) were held to just four hits by the duo of Lauren Sackett and Cassi Newbanks.
